The Global Tax Technology Manager will be part of the Global Tax Technology Team, Tax Operations, and will partner with all departments within the Global Tax Organization, such as Tax Planning, Reporting, Compliance, Indirect tax and others, with J&J IT and with external vendors. The Global Tax Technology Manager will be responsible for identifying and implementing best in class tax technology to drive efficiencies in our global tax processes. This role will focus on driving adoption and implementation of automation opportunities to help the Global Tax Organization in streamline tax processes, manage increasing legal requirements in tax reporting and compliance and reduce manual workload.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with the Global tax teams, IT and Finance to identify key areas for innovation and automation within the tax function
  • Evaluate appropriate technologies and/or hosting solutions in collaboration with IT and/or external vendors and influence selection of appropriate technology
  • Develop and present recommendations related to automation solutions and process improvements to tax leadership to help drive adoption
  • Serve as a lead in driving adoption and implementation of automation and process optimization opportunities and analytic tools within the Global Tax Organization:
  • Serve as contact and business partner for the Global Tax Organization to support, provide training and guidance around automation, process optimization and analytic tools
  • Serve as a project lead and project matter expert in analyzing, identifying and optimizing business processes and selecting, developing and implementing automation and analytic opportunities/tools such as Alteryx and Power BI
  • Serve as a lead in coordinating automation implementations between the various J&J departments such as the Global Tax, IT and external vendors located around the world
  • Drive optimizations of current implementations such as Alteryx and Power BI
  • Prepare and maintain project expense overviews and project status reports
  • Develop governance around automation and drive adoption of SOP and drive adoption
  • Develop tracking and reporting capabilities to measure success of automation, such as Alteryx

    Qualifications
    • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a preference in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Information Technology or related field is required
    • An MBA, CPA or CMA is preferred
    • A minimum of 5 years experience in finance or tax is preferred
    • Experience in a multinational corporation or public accounting is preferred
    • Ability to understand accounting and tax concepts is required.
    • Strong Project Management skills or experience in leading implementations is preferred
    • Experience collaborating with IT on larger scale projects is preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
    • Ability to communicate effectively with business partners is required
    • Demonstrated learning agility is required
    • Experience with working with international affiliates is preferred
    • Ability to understand international tax concepts and legislation is preferred
    • Experience with design and use of tools such as Alteryx and Power BI is preferred
    • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and promote innovation and continuous learning within the group is preferred
    • Strong Analytical skills and attention to detail is preferred
    • Ability to understand IT terminology is preferred.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PC based programs: Excel (i.e. Pivot tables, VLOOKUPS functions, formulas) Word, PowerPoint, is preferred
    • Experience with Financial Reporting systems such as SAP, JDE, HFM, Cognos is preferred.
    • This position is based in New Brunswick, NJ and might require travel between J&J PA and NJ sites depending on project needs.
    • This position will support multiple International J&J affiliates worldwide
    • This position may require up to 10% domestic or international travel.
