Role Summary: The Sr. Director Business Strategy & Operations Biologics is accountable for leading the site and network operations for the Global Manufacturing Organization by identifying opportunities and risks and setting overall direction to meet the needs of the company in coordination with business, brand, and modality strategies. This position has a key role in the network site strategy and overall production. This position works closely together with the site GMs in GMO as well as with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, synergies and support. This position is accountable for manufacturing network-level business governance to ensure performance and objective achievement. this role will be key to maximize the effectiveness of integration activities committed to within the GMO organization. In addition to serving as a chief of staff and strategy leader, this role will be called to provide ad hoc support and leadership of emerging topics. This role may act as a back-up for his/her direct reports, peers or the Head of GMO S&BO. Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Serve as SME and key point of contact within biologics network and with network-wide stakeholders on GMO's Biologics capabilities, capacities, strategies, and vision.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all core business functions of Biologics; apply that knowledge to effectively manage strategic and tactical initiatives according to our vision and strategic plans.
  • Design, build and directly lead high performing global team of program managers and data analysts to support informed decision making and ensure alignment with GPS and Operations strategic priorities directly within the GMO S&BO organization.
  • Lead cross-functional global matrixed project-based teams to implement strategic initiatives or to achieve yearly business objectives.
  • Lead organization and facilitation of SLT meetings to ensure effective use of time, focus on critical topics and promote quality of decision making; capture and document all decisions and follow-up actions, communicate and monitor completion of all follow-up to actions noted.
  • Ensure manufacture and on-time delivery of high-quality global supply by creating and leading ad hoc teams to resolve near term and long term challenges
  • Design, implement and lead governance forums in a fast-paced evolving climate.
  • Govern and monitor the execution of key initiatives against objectives in terms of progress to plan and desired outcomes.--
  • Lead analysis and deliver strategic recommendations on progress, risks, and actions required to attain objectives-- to Strategy and Operations, SVP, and/or GPS-LT as necessary.
  • Maintain responsibility for performance management/governance of manufacturing network by developing, maintaining, and continuously improving KPIs and scorecard; Lead performance review governance with sites
  • Ability to identify critical business opportunities and effectiveness needs, develop and implement effective strategies that drive optimal operations performance, long-term growth, and productivity priorities.
  • Drive and serve as a contact point for strategic planning processes within the Strategy and Operations organization; as well as within the sites to ensure optimal life-cycle management of in-line brands and new launch brands.
  • Partner with supply chain to lead long-range network planning as GMO owner
  • Assist in seamless transition and integration of new sites into GPS, help to navigate throughout BMS, and make the connections to leverage BMS strategy, processes, infrastructure, and systems as appropriate
  • Ensure seamless planning of portfolio management, budgeting, and portfolio prioritization cycles.
  • Partner with key functions such as BI&A, supply chain, OpEx, PMO, Finance, Quality, MS&T, and GPS Strategy to ensure continuous improvement, productivity, and effective decision making; partner with OpEx to support site-level OpEx deployments
  • Design and implement new innovative business models and solutions to support the harmonization of key processes across the global network.
  • Manage cross-functional projects to support integrated business strategies & execution, develop and implement successful strategies to support uninterrupted product supply; serve as GMO functional lead to the GPS Integration Management Office
  • Represent GMO in the above site and network initiatives to other functions.
  • Provide direct leadership of the GPS Emerging Leaders Program; directly oversee and manage all associates in the program including recruitment, mentoring, and rotational placement.
  • Lead design and creation of fit for purpose business processes and infrastructure
  • Change Leadership/Communications. Build strong relationships with sponsors and other key stakeholders across the business who support and lead change effort
  • Develop strong relationships with all functional and build successful cross-functional teams , while balancing the need to focus resources with competing BMS global objectives. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills at all levels of the organization; excellent presentation skills, both material creation, and delivery
    • Demonstrated learning agility; ability to adapt in an agile way as required

    • Financial management exposure, awareness, and strong acumen Education, Experience and Training Required
      • Bachelor's degree and post-graduate degree is preferred (MBA and/or PhD)
      • Minimum of 10+ years+ total business experience, with specific experience in leadership roles in the biopharmaceutical industry.
      • Thorough understanding of and experience with some aspect of technical operations or CMC; interest and demonstrated ability to learn across several disciplines (manufacturing, quality, supply chain, technical development, regulatory, patient experience, finance, operations, etc.)
      • Demonstrated experience in developing, aligning, socializing, monitoring, adapting, and delivering strategies in dynamic, rapidly changing environments
      • Experience working on and leading global teams--
      • Preferred: Balanced experience in both Commercial and Operations / Manufacturing dimensions of the business desired, with ex-US experience
      • Preferred: Demonstrated Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement skill set and delivery
