Assistant Professor in Urban Planning and Policy Development (Environment and Land Use) -The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member at the assistant professor level with a specialty in environmental and land use planning. While our preference is to hire at the tenure-track assistant professor level, we are willing to consider exceptional candidates at the associate level. The faculty member will teach in the Master of City and Regional Planning program and related graduate and undergraduate programs in the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. The ideal candidate will: Have a PhD in Urban Planning, Geography, Law, Public Policy or a related discipline, with a focus and specialized interest in the environment and land use. International and comparative work is a plus. Be clearly establishing a research profile of refereed research in high-impact journals and through national and international conference presentations. Demonstrate willingness and ability to secure peer-reviewed external grant funds and the ability to be a team leader on funded research supporting and supervising doctoral students and postdoctoral associates. Demonstrate interest, skills and hands-on experience with teaching. Demonstrate ability to network with external stakeholders and to communicate through new media and other sources. The Bloustein School values interdisciplinary scholars. Applicants must have doctorates, and we strongly prefer that they have their degree by June 30, 2020. The standard teaching assignment will include a mix of undergraduate and graduate courses. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy is a professional school offering a doctoral program in Planning and Public Policy; master's degrees in Public Policy, Urban Planning and Policy Development, Public Informatics, and Health Administration; undergraduate degrees in Public Policy, Planning and Public Policy, Urban Planning and Design, Health Administration, and Public Health. The programs in urban planning, public policy, and public health are all highly ranked nationally, while newer programs on health administration are expanding rapidly, and a new masters degree program in urban and public informatics welcomed its first cohort of students in Fall 2019. The School has 14 research centers and institutes, and annually attracts approximately $16 million in external grants and contracts. Several of the centers conduct research on environmental planning and land use.
