The specialist provides economic support and employment-related services to promote individual and family self-sufficiency within the Bronx 46th, 47th, and 52nd Precincts.LOCATION: 1995 Jerome Avenue Bronx NY 10453HOURS: 35 Hours/Week, ExemptMajor Duties:

  • Assist participants in obtaining and maintaining employment aligned with their vocational goals.
  • Assess ongoing vocational functioning using background info and work experiences.
  • Conduct job development and search activities tailored to the interests of the population served.
  • Engage with employer contacts and advocate for participants and staff, connecting them to opportunities within and outside of CMS.
  • Help participants and community partners with paperwork for the Anti-Gun Violence Employment Program.
  • Support participants and staff with housing, healthcare, social services, and educational issues.
  • Build community relationships through outreach to residents, businesses, and agencies.
  • Represent the program at community meetings to develop coordinated strategies.
  • Assist the Program Director in engaging and coordinating volunteers.
  • Document all work, including case notes and referrals, using the approved database.
  • Provide support and linkages to community programs and opportunities.
  • Participate in meetings with MOCJ-OPGV, DOHMH, and GSS as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
  • HS diploma required; four years of related community work experience preferred.
  • Baccalaureate degree preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of educational and vocational processes.
  • Proven community outreach and mobilization skills.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and gang-involved young people.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proficiency with computers and office software.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays.
  • Ability to walk 30 blocks and use public transportation.
  • Criminal justice history preferred but not under current supervision.
  • Valid, clean NYS driver's license preferred.
