Job Description:
Job Summary As a school, our first core belief is that excellent
instruction yields strong academic performance. The COVID-19
pandemic has fundamentally changed the way that schools are able to
provide rigorous academic instruction. Valence believes that a
consistent learning experience, on Zoom, and small student groups
leads to the best academic outcomes. However, many of our families
are reliant on school to provide childcare, wifi, and/or meals for
their children, so we are opening “pods” at our building in order
to meet these needs while students attend distance classes. Our Pod
Leaders will supervise a small “pod” of students (approximately 14)
while they participate in online learning. Pod Leaders will be
expected to ensure student safety, manage behavior, troubleshoot
technical issues, and oversee student meals. The Pod Leader will
report to the Director of Operations, and will participate in
weekly check-ins, coaching, and professional development to
maximize their positive impact on our scholars. Key
Responsibilities Assist the on-site leaders with arrival and
dismissal of students Model safe physical distancing protocols and
ensure that students maintain the same, including masking Use
non-verbal communication to keep students on track Award
merits/deductions based on student behavior Monitor student
technological behavior using GoGuardian Supervise student meals
Step in on ad hoc tasks and projects when necessary to support and
build a strong school environment Key Competencies & Qualifications
Willingness to sign a COVID-19 test consent form and submit to
regular testing Willingness to work at our building, 32-20 108 St.

scholars Positivity and enthusiasm for the potential of every
scholar Proficiency in technological tools, including Google
Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drive (or equivalents) Willingness to
