Job Description:
As a school, our first core belief is that excellent instruction
yields strong academic performance. Inherent in each student’s
academic success is a strong foundation in social-emotional health
and intelligence. Our Founding School Social Worker will work with
students with IEPs who receive mandated counseling, as well as with
at-risk students to provide one-to-one individual sessions and
group sessions. We are seeking an innovative, creative School
Social Worker who will work closely with our Dean of Student
Support to create a robust social-emotional curriculum that can be
implemented by teachers and administrators to support our students’
adaptability, time management, and preparedness for rigorous high
school and college admissions processes. The ideal candidate for
this position is highly knowledgeable about outside resources in
Queens and throughout New York City, and has strong partnerships
with outside agencies to provide our students and their families
with the support necessary to achieve our mission. The School
Social Worker will report to the Dean of Student Support and the
Head of School, and will participate in weekly collaboration,
coaching, and professional development to maximize their positive
impact on our scholars. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of
IEP students and complete regular progress monitoring to ensure IEP
goals are met; collect and analyze multiple forms of data for
purposes of providing targeted intervention services to at-risk
students; guide instructional practice through the development of
Tier 2 and 3 supports, and developing Behavior Intervention Plans
Prepare teacher reports and progress monitoring documents for
annual and triennial IEP meetings; attend all initial, annual, and
triennial IEP meetings Co-facilitate Student Success Leadership
Team meetings weekly, and oversee implementation of action steps
Develop and implement social-emotional health and intelligence
curriculum; co-facilitate teacher professional development with
school leaders Develop a library of family resources and
collaborate with outside agencies to support families Provide
scholars with frequent and accurate behavioral feedback to support
academic progress Participate actively in frequent professional
development, coaching, and collaboration, and promptly implement
coaching feedback into teaching practice Key Competencies &

Positivity and enthusiasm for the potential of every scholar
Master’s Degree in Social Work or School Counseling Required
Bilingual English/Spanish reading, writing, and speaking required
Proficiency in technological tools, including Google Sheets, Google
Slides, Google Drive (or equivalents) Minimum two years of
experience working with students in large urban school districts
