Job Description:
Description Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair
piping systems including water supply, drainage, waste disposal
systems, venting systems, steam, and gas lines. Operate a variety
of hand and power tools safely and effectively. Maintain and repair
medical gas systems (oxygen, vacuum, compressed air), ensuring
compliance with local, state, and federal codes, including OSHA
NFPA 99 and other healthcare regulations. Perform diagnostics and
repairs on complex plumbing systems including boilers, pumps,
backflow preventers, and pressure regulators. Perform scheduled
preventive maintenance on plumbing infrastructure. Maintain records
of repairs, maintenance activities, and inspections. Lead and
participate in large-scale plumbing projects or system upgrades.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical
specifications. Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other
trades to coordinate work. Supervise and train Plumber I, Plumber
II, and apprentices. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and
other trades as needed. Ensure compliance with OSHA, Joint
Commission, and state/local plumbing codes. Provide training,
supervision, and mentorship to Plumber I and II team members.
Respond to emergency calls outside of regular work hours when
required. Other duties as assigned by Management. Qualifications
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements Education High
school diploma or equivalent (required). Technical or trade school
training Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in the
plumbing trade, including at least 2 years’ experience in a
healthcare or medical facility setting is preferred. Licenses,
Certifications, and/or Registrations Backflow Prevention
Certification (Preferred) Certification in Medical Gas Installation
(e.g., ASSE 6010) (Preferred) Valid state journeyman or master
plumber license. (Preferred) Knowledge of industry standards and
regulations such as: CMS, NJDOH, Joint Commission, NFPA 99 and
OSHA, and ability to apply such standards as required. Familiarity
with infection control practices in healthcare settings. Possess
understanding of the daily operations of departments supported
(medical center, offsite practice, etc.). Expert knowledge of
plumbing systems, materials, tools, and techniques. Knowledge and
skilled in the use of CMMS. Ability to work independently and as
part of a team. Effective communication and organizational skills.
Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety protocols,
especially within healthcare settings with the ability to read
blueprints, sketches, and technical diagrams.
