permanent civil service status. Compensation : Salary Range: The
current minimum salary for Power Electronic Maintainer is $ 3 8 . 5
0 per hour for a 40-hour work week increasing to $ 4 5 . 29 per
hour in the sixth year of service. These rates are subject to
change. The benefits of this position include, but are not limited
to, night and weekend salary differentials, paid holidays, vacation
and sick leave, a comprehensive medical plan and a pension plan.
Responsibilities : Power Electronic Maintainers , inspect, test,
maintain and repair the electronic automated monitoring and control
equipment of New York City Transit’s power system. They
troubleshoot, repair, maintain, test and operate solid state
computerized supervisory control systems, relays, meters, test
instruments, analog and digital circuit boards, modems and related
low and high-voltage equipment; diagnose operating defects in power
conversion equipment; record data; keep records and prepare
reports; and perform related work. Some of the physical activities
performed by Power Electronic Maintainers and environmental
conditions they experience are: working with small components and
hand-held instruments; climbing and descending ladders; walking
along catwalks in subways; distinguishing colors; and working in
confined spaces. Education and Experience Requirements : Y ou must
meet one of the following requirements below : 1. A four-year high
school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus four years of
full-time satisfactory experience as an electronic technician; or
2. Two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in
"1" above, plus graduation from an approved trade, technical or
vocational high school with a major course of study in
telecommunications, electronic, electrical, or electromechanical
technology; or 3. Two years of full-time satisfactory experience as
described in "1" above, plus an associate degree from an accredited
college or an equivalent accredited technical institution with a
major course of study in telecommunications, electrical or
electromechanical technology; or 4. One and one-half years of
full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above, plus
an associate degree from an accredited college or an equivalent
accredited technical institution with a major course of study in
electronic technology; or 5. One year of full-time satisfactory
experience as described in “1” above, plus a bachelor’s degree from
an accredited college or an equivalent accredited technical
institution with a major course of study in telecommunications,
electronic, electrical, or electromechanical technology. If you
have qualifying part-time experience, it will be credited on a
prorated basis. The high school, vocational high school, technical
school, or trade school must be approved by a State’s Department of
Education or a recognized accrediting organization. The college or
university must be accredited by regional, national, professional
or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the
U.S. Secretary of Education, and by the Council for Higher
Education Accreditation (CHEA). Requirements to be Appointed: Drug
Screening Requirement: You must pass a drug screening in order to
be appointed. Residency: New York City residency is not required
for this position. English Requirement: You must be able to
understand and be understood in English to perform the duties and
responsibilities of the position. Proof of Identity: Under the

United States prior to employment with MTA New York City Transit.
