Job Description:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant for the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) - Rutgers Health University Dental Associates (RHUDA). Under the direction of the Program Administrator, the Expanded Duty Dental Assistant performs chair-side, desk-side and sterilization assistance for RHUDA providers. Assists providers during various examinations and treatment of patients. Performs other sterilizing, clerical, and miscellaneous tasks.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

* Seats patient, adjusts chair, drapes patient with protective covers, communicates patient concerns with staff nurse and/or treating provider.
* Assists providers chair-side during standard and complex procedures.
* Anticipates the providers needs during procedures.
* Monitors anesthesia patients in recovery when necessary.
* Manages post-operative patient care.
* Cleans and sterilizes room after each use; prepares treatment room based on scheduled procedures.
* Serves as sterilization assistant.
