American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/01/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a NJ or compact RN license and strong acute care experience. Responsibilities - Position is in a 28-bed Intermediate Care (IMC)/PCU in a hospital setting - Patient mix includes post-CABG, post-op mini valve, TAVRs, chest tubes, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgeries - No ventilator patients are cared for in this unit - Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 for high acuity/IMC, and may increase to 1:5-6 if floated to med/surg or telemetry - Night shifts are 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30 - Every other weekend required - Must be available to work at least 2 of 3 major holidays - Floating within skillset is required - Uses Epic for charting, with prior experience required - Locals are accepted at the same rate - First time travelers will be considered for this assignment - Must not have been employed within the RWJBarnabas Health system in the past year - Holiday coverage is required, and at least 2 out of 3 major holidays must be worked - Block scheduling is not offered - No call responsibilities - RNs are expected to float to units within their skillset as needed - A professional attire and adherence to facility dress code is required - Extensive pre-hire modules and training, including 4 hours of Epic, are completed prior to start - All training modules must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter - Clinicians must adhere to attendance and contract completion policies as outlined by the facility Requirements - Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration - At least 2 years of recent acute care RN experience required - Current certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred - Experience needed in EPIC charting, EKG interpretation and management, dressing changes and wound vacs, A-lines, cardiac drip management (no titration), PCAs, chest tubes, CPAP, and tracheostomies - Must be able to manage hemodialysis and cardiac surgery patients Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630035.
