Job Description:
At Insmed, every moment and every patient counts — and so does
every person who joins in. As a global biopharmaceutical company
dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with serious and
rare diseases, you’ll be part of a community that prioritizes the
human experience, celebrates curiosity, and values every person’s
contributions to meaningful progress. That commitment has earned us
recognition as Science magazine’s No. 1 Top Employer for five
consecutive years, certification as a Great Place to Work® in the
U.S., and a place on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list in
the UK. For patients, for each other, and for the future of
science, we’re in. Are you? About the Role: We’re looking for a
highly motivated and experienced Mass Spectrometry Scientist to
help us expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Research, the Associate
Principal Scientist, Mass Spectrometry will play a critical role in
elucidating mechanisms of action (MOA) and identifying biomarkers
for novel protein inhibitors and therapeutic programs. The
successful candidate will apply advanced mass spectrometry–based
approaches to characterize proteomic and metabolomic changes in
biological systems following inhibitor or therapeutic treatment.
This work will enable the identification of protein-based
biomarkers associated with therapeutic activity and contribute to a
deeper understanding of drug effects at the cellular and system
levels, ultimately supporting the advancement of new therapeutics.
What You'll Do: In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to
develop, optimize, and implement advanced mass spectrometry
workflows, including DDA and DIA, to screen for and identify
protein-based biomarkers associated with therapeutic activity.
You’ll also: Design and execute quantitative mass spectrometry
experiments to measure low-abundance proteins in complex biological
matrices, including plasma, tissues, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
Design and conduct experiments to identify and characterize changes
in the proteome or metabolome following inhibitor or therapeutic
treatment of relevant biological samples (e.g., cells, plasma,
tissues). Apply bioinformatics and data analysis tools to interpret
complex datasets and identify relevant proteins, metabolites, and
potential biomarkers. Collaborate closely with cross-functional
stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data aligned
with project objectives. Prepare and present research findings at
internal meetings and external scientific conferences and
contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and scientific
publications. Stay current with emerging advances in mass
spectrometry technologies and methodologies, particularly as
applied to proteomics, metabolomics, and biomarker discovery in
drug research. Who You Are: You must have a PhD in Chemistry,
Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, with a strong
emphasis on mass spectrometry–based proteomics, metabolomics, and
protein quantification. Additionally, you have: 10 years of
hands-on industry experience applying advanced mass spectrometry
techniques in proteomics and protein quantification. Demonstrated
experience with LC–MS system operation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting. Strong understanding of cellular biology and the
impact of protein inhibition on proteomic and metabolic pathways.
Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex
scientific data effectively. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills, with experience in scientific documentation
and publication. Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and a
collaborative, team-oriented mindset. Commitment to strict
adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines.
