Job Description:
Posting Summary The Physician shall provide full time clinical
services and serve as a stroke faculty of the Comprehensive Stroke
Center. Part A: Stroke Neurologist Responsibilities: 1. Directly
reports to the director of stroke program and chief of division of
stroke and neurocritical care. 2. Serve as stroke faculty physician
of the Comprehensive Stroke Center and an expert medical resource
to the medical staff and other professionals, administration and
staff. 3. Serve as stroke attending of the Neuroscience Unit on
Tower 7 at RWJUH . 4. Provide stroke education and lectures to
medical staff, health professionals, staff and patients. 5.
Coordinate and administer the Tissue Plasminogen Activator ( TPA )
treatment program and collaborate with endovascular neurosurgeons,
interventional neurologists and neuroradiologists in order to
bridge intravenous TPA treatment to mechanical thrombectomy and
other endovascular interventions. 6. Provide leadership and counsel
regarding the medical and clinical aspects of operations, including
participation in policy development, policy compliance,
professional and patient education and evaluation of emerging
technologies. The Director of the Acute Stroke program works
closely with senior management and helps provide medical and
clinical perspectives in organizational planning and oversight of
related activities. 7. Responsible for medical management of
service/program; provide clinical expertise; monitor clinical
indicators to determine if measurable standards are met; provide
medical oversight, including development of goals, budgets, and
operations. 8. Responsible for planning and development, including
emerging technologies related to programs and services and help in
the procurement of state of the art equipment when needed. 9.
Attend performance improvement and steering committee meetings. 10.
Participate in the teaching mission of RWJMS to the extent
determined in consultation with the Department Chair. This may
include teaching and mentoring fellows in cerebrovascular
disorders, teaching Neurology residents and rotating residents in
the inpatient and outpatient settings and in small group seminars;
teaching medical students in inpatient and outpatient setting, in
small group seminars or in formal lectures in the pre-clinical
setting. 11. Participate in the community service responsibilities
of the department in such areas as providing neurological care for
indigent patients and teaching or advising lay community groups in
the area of cerebrovascular disorders according to a schedule to be
determined in consultation with the Chair and Division Chief. 12.
Participate in the administrative tasks of the Department of
Neurology and RWJMS . This will include membership in standing or
ad hoc departmental and institutional committees as determined in
consultation with the Chair and according to RWJMS By-Laws; and
attending departmental and institutional faculty meetings. 13. Work
with faculty neurointensivsits for all stroke related patient care,
teaching and clinical research projects. 14. Participate in
providing outpatient stroke clinic service during the weeks without
any inpatient stroke service duty- the total number of clinics per
month is to be determined by discussion with the stroke division
chief and the need of vascular neurology outpatient access. 15.
Participate in providing telemedicine for stroke operation when
telemedicine program is launched.
