Job Description Job Description Tax Associate Attorney – New York Direct Counsel is seeking a Tax Associate Attorney to join a top-ranked Am Law firm in New York. This role offers the opportunity to work with a nationally recognized tax team advising clients across a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions. About the Role The firm’s tax group provides sophisticated counsel on international, federal, state, and local tax matters, with a strong focus on transactional tax work. You’ll collaborate with clients that include investment funds and their portfolio companies, renewable energy developers, and major corporations engaged in complex M&A and fund formation activities. Key Responsibilities Advise clients on M&A, financing transactions, and portfolio investments. Design and implement tax-efficient structures for joint ventures and corporate transactions. Provide federal and state tax planning guidance. Stay current on evolving tax laws by contributing to thought leadership initiatives such as articles and client alerts. Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment, with approximately 60% in-office participation expected. Qualifications JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school. Admission (or eligibility for admission) to the New York Bar. Minimum of 3 years of transactional tax experience, focusing on corporate and partnership taxation within a law firm. Experience in accounting or renewable energy sectors is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Team-oriented mindset with a high level of professionalism. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $260,000 – $310,000 Annual bonus eligibility. Comprehensive benefits package offered.
