The Sr. Director, HR will play a critical role in fostering a productive, engaging and rewarding employee experience by designing, developing and implementing workplace strategies and initiatives consistent with FordDirect’s culture. Reporting to the SVP, Human Resources, this role will lead the design, implementation, and administration of the Total Rewards function including Compensation, Benefits, Payroll and HRIS. Additionally, this role will improve the framework of best practices around Human Resource operations identifying areas of opportunity for the department to better serve employees, implementing new policies and procedures as necessary. Comprehensive knowledge of base compensation, variable pay, merit, and benefits programs. Advanced skills in HR technical and professional principles, practices, laws, regulations, and programs. Strong business acumen, organizational savvy and strategic thinking required. Essential Functions Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Lead compensation strategy design and administration including base pay administration, job evaluation, and merit and incentive programs to ensure they are performance driven, competitive, consistent and appropriately leveled across the organization. Lead development and execution of compensation and benefits related reports and materials for internal and external audits and the Compensation Committee of the Board of Managers. Oversee and lead the design, implementation, and administration of company benefit programs including the administration of the Company 401(k) plan. Design and implement effective total rewards communication and education strategies to support the rollout of total rewards programs. Ensure statutory compliance with FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA and HIPAA legislation, and all legal reporting for benefits and compensation, EEO, etc. Prepare and execute, with consultation, benefits documentation such as original and amended plan summaries, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies to effect changes in benefit programs. Oversee development of metrics around total rewards programs to influence program direction and monitor business impact. Manage and negotiate with brokers and third-party providers. Oversee the administration of payroll and benefits. HR Operations Manage all aspects of the HRIS system including planning, development, testing, implementation, and user support. This includes integration of HRIS with other business applications as appropriate. Oversee the ongoing maintenance of HRIS data to support timely and accurate employee onboarding, reporting, payroll processing and benefit plan administration. Work with other HR team members to develop, monitor and refine processes to ensure a smooth flow of information into/from the HRIS. Develop and maintain SOPs and apply advanced knowledge of employment laws and best practices to ensure all necessary legal documentation, compliance, and controls are in place. Ensure HR compliance & data stewardship for process area (i.e. documentation, classification and compliance) and the timely completion of all related compliance and reporting requirements. Promote proactive approaches using the HRIS to solve business needs/problems, while also optimizing the HRIS capabilities. Serve as HR Lead in metrics and statistical data report development; Manage HRIS analysis, documentation and development, software upgrades, and maintenance. Ensure the company complies with employment-related federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions. Collaborate with HR leadership to develop annual budget and monitor expenses against forecast. Collaborate with HR team members on cross-functional initiatives to ensure consistency and a seamless experience for employees. Create an environment of positive employee relations, maintain confidentiality, and establish trust and credibility. Manage and coach team members for role performance, career progression and skill development as needed (i.e., set goals, provide performance feedback and conduct performance reviews. Other Duties Abide by the policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct of the company. Handle personal information (“PI”) that pertains to any individual (e.g., leads, dealers, employees, job applicants, etc.) in accordance with FordDirect’s Information Privacy Guiding Principles, privacy policy and public facing privacy statements on FordDirect managed websites. Complete any required privacy training. Promptly report any known or suspected loss, theft or unauthorized disclosure or use of PI to the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer or Chief Information Officer. Adhere to the company’s compliance program. Safeguard the company’s intellectual property, information, and assets. Other duties as assigned. % Travel Required (Approximate): Minimal Qualifications: Experience Progressive HR experience specifically in the compensation, benefits, and/or payroll disciplines in a small to mid-size company (15 years). Designing and administering compensation and benefits programs (10 years). Driving strategy and overseeing the administration of group health plans (medical, dental, prescription, and vision), disability plans, Health Savings Accounts, Life and Disability, and 401(k) retirement plans. Administering and managing multi-state payroll and related payroll-related laws and regulations. Designing and implementing Total Reward policies and procedures, and ensuring legal compliance with PPACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ADA. Design and implementation of HRIS systems (SuccessFactors, preferred). Working directly with and presenting to executive levels including VPs, CEO, and Compensation Committee. Experience managing 1-5 direct reports. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred CPP preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Comfortable operating in ambiguous situations. Proactively problem solve and multi task while maintaining composure and attention to details. Follow-through mindset to uphold a ‘close the loop’ culture. A positive approach to serving customers and providing exceptional customer service. Ability to demonstrate good judgment, high ethics and project a professional image. Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. The drive to identify and seize opportunities for continuous improvement as business needs change. Excellent organization, flexibility and time management skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Exceptional interpersonal and business communication skills (written, verbal, listening). Proficient in Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Solid people management skills and the ability to create a motivational environment for team members. Knowledge of HR-related principles such as goal setting, discrete communication, and performance management and feedback.
