Job Description:

The Radiology Technical Supervisor is Responsible for the operation of assigned section(s). Supervises the examinations and/or treatments performed on patients as prescribed by a licensed Physician. Participates in the administrative activities of assigned section.


  • Requires the following licensure/registry as appropriate: Nuclear Medicine - NJ License in NM Technology X-Ray, CT, MRI, Mammo - NJ License in X-Ray Technology
  • Five (5) years experience in the related specialty required
  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient for effective interaction with patients, physicians and staff required.


  • Ultrasound RDMS Certification


Ensures proper staffing of Department and efficient scheduling of all patients. Posts staff schedules and ensures that scheduled patients wait no more than thirty (30) minutes if the patient is available to the Department on time

Ensures the administration of assigned section

  1. Passes all inspections of accrediting and regulatory agencies with no repeated deficiencies and no fines
  2. Works with Quality Control Officer to quickly resolve any clinical equipment service issues and adjusts room schedules to accommodate required preventive maintenance service. Informs Management of unresolvable service issues
  3. Maintains a level of supplies that does not exceed that required to operate the department for ten (10) days
  4. Provides Management with a written labor and/or supply expense variance report as required
  5. Manages desk duties in Corridor B
  6. Responsible for staff schedules
  7. Assign Technologist to daily, weekly and monthly duties
  8. RIS/PACS move images
  9. Monitor charges and correct (daily report)
  10. Supplies / MSSS order necessary supplies
  11. Lead clinical instructor for MCC students
  12. Manage service calls and service records
  13. Attend ED satisfaction meetings for adult/peds
  14. Perform NM dose verification (2/3 month)
  15. Review, comment and close out VERGE report

Ensures service excellence through counseling, evaluating and educating all department staff.

  1. Ensures 100% attendance of all new staff at hospital and department-specific orientation. Ensures 100% familiarity with Hospital code and emergency policies and procedures.
  2. Develop, supervise and mentor staff for maximum quality and team work.
  3. Evaluates all staff in accordance with current Human Resources policy with respect to evaluation criteria, frequency and verification of competency standards.
  4. Counsels and disciplines when individual deficiencies are identified.
  5. Functions in a staff capacity on an as needed basis.

Assists in accomplishing Press Ganey and CQI goals.

  1. Establishes programs and activities designed to reach Press Ganey goals (90th % tile or better).
  2. Responds as appropriate to patient concerns as documented on returned surveys.
  3. Looks for opportunities to recognize Staff who have demonstrated service excellence.
  4. Works with Director on relevant CQI initiatives. Solicits input from staff and include staff in process as appropriate.

Maintains a 'super user' level of knowledge of all information technology systems (RIS, payroll, etc).

  1. Obtains the appropriate knowledge of all IT systems to use them efficiently and effectively.
  2. Trains new staff and in-services existing Staff on the proper use of IT systems appropriate for individual job functions.
  3. Actively participates in efforts to improve functionality of RIS/PACS and scheduling systems. Looks for opportunity within assigned area to improve systems and workflow.
