Competition Law, to be located in New Brunswick, New Jersey or
This Senior Counsel position is for an attorney within the
Competition Law & Policy Group of the Litigation Group within the
Law Department of Johnson & Johnson. The responsibilities of this
position are to advise and represent the company concerning
competition matters in all sectors of the companys business in the
United States and other jurisdictions, with an emphasis on the
merger review process and general antitrust counseling. We are
seeking a person with the experience to lead complex global
matters. The successful candidate must be comfortable interacting
with senior business and legal leaders and be committed to take the
time to learn each of Johnson & Johnson's businesses and the
markets in which they participate.
As Senior Counsel, you will:
Advise concerning competition issues raised by the companys
mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures;
collaborative with business development lawyers and professionals
to develop strategy for efficient clearance of merger reviews.
Lead all aspects of merger clearance filings and represent the
company before competition authorities.
Respond to third-party information requests from competition
Advise on the competition aspects of distribution agreements,
co-promotion agreements and other product rights agreements and
ensure a coordinated cross-sector approach.
Proactively engage in competition policy advocacy and coordinate
global advocacy efforts to ensure a consistent company
Work closely with Law Department colleagues in advising business
leaders on significant competition law issues, including pricing
and distribution practices with the aim to have a consistent

deliver, competition training for all sectors, regions, and

A minimum of a JD is required.
A minimum of 6-10 years practicing as an attorney is
Extensive experience in the U.S. merger review process is
Experience in drafting and submitting Hart-Scott-Rodino
notification forms is required.
Experience advising clients concerning the Robinson-Patman Act
Solid understanding of merger review regulations outside the
U.S. is preferred.
Experience proactively engaging in competition policy advocacy
and coordinating global advocacy efforts to ensure a consistent
company approach is preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with law department, public
policy, commercial, regulatory, medical affairs, finance, tax, and
other Johnson & Johnson colleagues.
Ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior
management to impact decision making
Ability to have an opinion backed by insight and confidence to
influence stakeholders in meetings and on a one on one basis.
Outstanding and clear communication skills; ability to think
analytically to understand complex or ambiguous problems or issues
and articulate solutions/conclusions clearly and concisely.
Business acumen with ability to appropriately use judgment and
