Job Title: Biologics Development Co-op
Duration: 6 months (Possible Extension)
Location: New Brunswick, NJ
Biologics Development develops methods and processes to produce
large molecule, protein-based drug candidates. To support on-going
portfolio projects and technology innovation, the co-op program
focuses on developing new technologies and approaches to use
fundamental principles to solve challenging technical problems
related to molecule production and characterization.
The program will feature:
--- An orientation, including an overview of company structure,
products and brands
--- An introduction to the GPS and PD organizations
--- Exposure to senior management and business leaders
--- Formal presentation at the end of your co-op
--- A mentor program
--- Formal review and feedback sessions
Please note: co-ops that will be in-person and reside more than 50
miles away from the work location will receive a housing
stipend.
Roles may be virtual or in-person dependent upon COVID
restrictions.
Project Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to be part of the cell
line development group within the biologics development
organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for
developing and implementing novel/improved technologies to drive
state-of-the art development that supports development of improved
cell lines to produce biologics. The role requires extensive
literature survey as well as implementation of innovative methods
to increase the yield and quality of biologics. The candidate will
have the opportunity to have hands on experience with cell line
development and actively partner with various biologics development
groups across sites in New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities:
--- Performing activities for the internal cell line development
platform generating high producing cell lines. The candidate will
work on development of cell lines producing monoclonal antibodies
with focus on increased productivity and product quality.
--- Responsible for activities related to production cell line
development including transfection, selection, single cell cloning
(FACS), high throughput screening, characterization of clonal cell
lines, cell banking, and cell line stability studies.
--- Responsible for the execution, data review and analysis,
document writing, and contributing to sections of regulatory
submissions associated with the cell line.
--- Will generate and document results with Electronic notebook and
maintain instrumentation in a GMP-like compliant environment.
Preferred Experience:
--- Strong knowledge and hands on experience of mammalian cell
culture, antibody function and structure. Experience with CHO cells
is a plus.
--- Experience with DNA transfection, vector design, and genetic
characterization of cell banks.
--- Strong analytical skills with ability interpret data from cell
culture experiments.
--- Flow Cytometry experience is a plus.
--- Ability to think critically with excellent problem solving and
troubleshooting skills.
--- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are
required. Experience in leading matrix team is desirable.
--- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with
cross-functional teams.
--- Proactive at keeping current with literature and leveraging
modern technologies.
Requirements:
--- Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited
university program seeking a Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology,
molecular biology or equivalent field targeting completion in
December 2022 or later.
--- Must have good oral/written communication skills and be able to
work in a team environment
--- Must include GPA on resume for consideration (program requires
GPA of 3.0 or greater)
--- All candidates must be authorized to work in the US without
sponsorship needs
