Job Description:
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Associate position
in Turfgrass Entomology investigating various aspects in the IPM of
turfgrass insect pests including annual bluegrass weevil and the
white grub complex.The successful applicant will join a vibrant
laboratory and turfgrass center with a diverse and collaborative
environment with access to cutting-edge resources in a major
research university.Candidates must have strong communication and
interpersonal skills, a publication record consistent with the
position and an interest in multiple aspects of IPM including pest
biology/ecology, sampling/monitoring, microbial / biological
control, insecticide resistance and its management.Minimum
Education and ExperienceRequires a PhD degree preferably in
Entomology or other relevant area. Experience in laboratory,
greenhouse, and field studies involving insects, preferably with
turfgrass insects.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesRequires
excellent oral and written communication skills and high level of
computer literacy. Must have a high level of familiarity with
typical laboratory equipment and typical software used in
entomological research. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's
license.Excellent knowledge of statistical analysis, scientific
writing, and prior experience in a greenhouse and field research in
turfgrass preferred.Overview60% 1. Planning, conducting,
evaluating, and reporting research in turfgrass entomology with
minimal supervision.30% 2. Assisting with the writing of research
proposal, research reports, and trade and scientific articles and
with the preparation of extension and scientific presentations.10%
3. Managing laboratory, greenhouse, and field activities and needs
of the program including management of equipment and supplies and
undergraduate student helpers and seasonal workers (approximately
